Coast Guard Searches Second Day for Overdue Sailboat

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- The U.S. Coast Guard is in the second day of searching for Mr. Jim Gray and his vessel "Tenacious".

The Coast Guard has been searching since Sunday evening with C-130 fixed wing aircraft, HH-65 Dolphin helicopters, 87-foot coastal patrol boats, 47-foot motor life boats, a 41-foot utility boat, and has had assistance from the Alameda County Sheriff's Office 85-foot patrol boat.  The search area has covered an area of approximately 15,900 square miles.  It extends as far west as 78 miles past the Farallon Islands, as far north as the California - Oregon Border, and as far south as Pt. Año Nuevo. 

The Coast Guard will continue to search through today, pending any developments.  Weather conditions have been favorable throughout the search and are expected to remain mild.
