Ohio native retires from Coast Guard after 25 years of service |

ALAMEDA, Calif. -- Cmdr. Roger N. Wykle, a native of Cortland, Ohio, and Chief, Planning and Budgeting Branch of the Pacific Area Resource Management Division, will retire after 25 years of service during a ceremony scheduled to take place on Coast Guard Island, here, Friday. Wykle enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1984, serving aboard the Coast Guard Cuter Jarvis before attending the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn., graduating with honors in 1989. Wykle holds a Master of Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois, and a Master of Business Administration from Old Dominion University. Wykle's personal awards include the Coast Guard Meritorious Service Medal, four commendation Medals, two achievement medals, and the Southwest Asia Service Medal. Wykle is married to the former Julie Medbery of Mahomet, Ill., and they have two children, Jake and Meg. ###
