Coast Guard and local agencies respond to report of missing child

MOSS BEACH, Calif - The U.S. Coast Guard and local agencies responded to the report of a 5 year old girl who disappeared while swimming with her parents at Montera State Beach this afternoon.

U. S. Coast Guard Station Golden Gate, Airstation San Francisco, Coast Guard Auxiliary, San Mateo Police and Fire, and Pillar Point Harbor Master responded.  The girl was located in the water by emergency personnel from Pillar Point.  A Coast Guard helicopter is airlifting her to Stanford Medical Center.  The girl's condition is unknown.

Initial reports also indicate that the girl's mother was removed from the water unconscious and was airlifted to a hospital by MedFlight.  Her condition is unknown.

UPDATE:  At approximately 7:45 this evening the Coast Guard received notification from the San Mateo Coroner's Office that the mother and 5 year old girl did not survive.
