Coast Guard searches for a second person in the water

 

SAN FRANCISCO -  The Coast Guard assisted the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department in the search and recovery of a second person in the waters north of Discovery Bay, on Werner Dredger Cut, today.

Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco, Station Rio Vista, and the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department responded to an eyewitness report of a man struggling in Werner Dredger Cut, around 1 a.m.  Dive teams from the Volunteer Services Unit recovered the body around 7:30 a.m.

After investigating the incident, the sheriff's department learned that there was a second person in the water. At around 3 p.m., the Coast Guard, Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol Unit, and divers returned to the scene. Divers located the second body at around 6:15 p.m.
