 Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day ceremony to be held on Coast Guard Island

COAST GUARD ISLAND, ALAMEDA, Calif. -- The Pearl Harbor Survivors Association San Francisco Bay Area Chapter 2 and U.S. Coast Guard Mission Support Community Alameda will hold a ceremony in honor of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day at Gresham Hall Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 at 9 a.m.

Capt. Keith J. Turro, Base Support Command Alameda commander will be the keynote speaker and Mickey Ganitch, a Pearl Harbor survivor and U.S. Navy retiree is also scheduled to speak at the ceremony. 

WHO:   Pearl Harbor Survivors Association San Francisco Bay Area Chapter 2 and Mission Support Community Alameda.

WHAT:  Will hold a Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day ceremony.

WHEN:  Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 at 9 a.m.  Media should plan to arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. 

WHERE:  Gresham Hall, Building 4, Coast Guard Island, Alameda, Calif. 

This year marks the 68th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. A memorial wreath is scheduled to be placed at 9:55 a.m., to coincide with the time of the attack on Hawaii and will be followed by appropriate military honors concluding approximately 10:05 a.m.

Drivers of vehicles must have current registration and proof of insurance to drive on Coast Guard Island.
