Mavericks surfers, Coast Guard and Pillar Point Harbor Patrol encourage beach and water-sport safety during Mavericks

Who: Representatives from the Coast Guard, Mavericks and the Pillar Point Harbor Patrol

What: The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for the northern California coastline beginning Friday evening until 10 a.m. Saturday morning.  A strong northwesterly swell will produce surf of 15 to 18 feet. The Coast Guard, Mavericks surfers and Pillar Point Harbor Patrol would like to remind Mavericks Surf Competition spectators, boaters and surfers to be safe during this year's events.

Representatives from the Coast Guard, Mavericks and Pillar Point Harbor Patrol will be available for interviews regarding beach, boat and water-sport safety during the Mavericks Surf Competition scheduled Saturday.

When: Feb. 12, 2010 at 2:30 p.m.

Where: The parking lot for the Mavericks Surf competition, located at the end of West Point Ave, Pillar Point, Half Moon Bay, Calif., 94019
