Coast Guard recovers woman from San Francisco Bay

SAN FRANCISCO - The U.S. Coast Guard has recovered a woman from San Francisco Bay near Anchorage 8, today.

At approximately 9:17 a.m., the Coast Guard was notified by the captain of the ferry vessel Peralta of a possible person overboard.  The Coast Guard immediately issued an urgent marine information broadcast notifying vessels in the area of a possible person in the water.  A 25-foot response boat from Station San Francisco was immediately launched to commence a search for the possible person in the water.  An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station San Francisco, which was airborne conducting training, was diverted to the scene to assist in the search efforts.  A San Francisco Police Department Marine Unit boat also launched to assist.  

At 9:56 a.m., the crew of the Dolphin helicopter spotted a person in the water in the vicinity of Anchorage 8, an area southwest of Treasure Island. 

The response boat from Station San Francisco was directed into position and recovered an adult female.  The crew immediately conducted CPR and used their on board defibrillator.  CPR was conducted throughout the vessel's transit to Pier 39, San Francisco.

Crews were met by awaiting San Francisco EMS where the woman was pronounced deceased by EMS personnel.
