				<div><p>MONTEREY, Calif. &ndash; The crew of Coast Guard Station Monterey will be hosting an array of boating safety activities and static displays for the public May 19, 2012 at San Carlos Beach Park, Monterey, in support of this year&rsquo;s <a title="National Safe Boating Week" href="http://www.safeboatingcampaign.com/" target="_blank">National Safe Boating Week</a>.</p>

				<div><p>ALAMEDA, Calif. &ndash; A change of command ceremony and retirement event is scheduled for Thursday, May 3 at Coast Guard Island. Two Coast Guard Captains will officially transfer command responsibilities as part of a time-honored tradition.</p>
<p>The change of command ceremony is a formal ritual, conducted before the assembled company of the command and to invited guests. It conveys to the officers, enlisted personnel, civilian employees and auxiliary members of the Coast Guard that although the authority of command is relinquished by one person and is assumed by another, it is still maintained without interruption.</p>
<p>What: Coast Guard Base Alameda Change of Command Ceremony and Capt. Spenik retirement</p>
<p>Who: Capt. Gary Spenik will retire and be relieved of command by Capt. Michael Woolard who will take command as Commanding Officer of Coast Guard Base Alameda.</p>

<p>WHO:&nbsp;&nbsp;Coast Guard Cutter Morgenthau and crew.</p>
<p>WHAT:&nbsp;Coast Guard Cutter Morgenthau is scheduled to return to its homeport at Coast Guard Island in Alameda, Calif., from a 72-day deployment to the Eastern Pacific Ocean.&nbsp;&nbsp;Presentation of decals to be displayed on the ship to recognize drug seizures.&nbsp; Interviews with commanding officer.&nbsp;</p>
<p>During a 72-day patrol the crew intercepted nine vessels engaged in narcotics, migrant, and money trafficking. The interceptions, some accomplished in coordination with navies of partner nations in the region, resulted in the seizure or disruption of more than a ton of cocaine and approximately 1,300 pounds of marijuana, confiscation of $12,000 in cash associated with criminal activity, the interdiction and rescue of 10 undocumented migrants, and detainment of 15 suspected smugglers.</p>

			<title>Gary Sinise to headline Lt. Dan Band at Coast Guard Island</title>

				<div><p style="text-align: left;">ALAMEDA, Calif. &mdash; A Lt. Dan Band concert headlined by actor Gary Sinise is scheduled for Friday, March 2 at Coast Guard Island in Alameda.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">In conjunction with the United&nbsp;Services Organization (USO), the free concert is dedicated to military members, veterans and their families. Since 2004, the band has peformed for more than 230,000&nbsp;military members stationed in the United States and overseas. Sinise is a strong supporter of the military having veterans on both sides of his family and has been working with military groups since the 80's.</p>

			<title>Sacramento Coast Guard unit plays Santa enroute to Central America</title>

				<div><p>WHO: Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento&nbsp;crewmembers, &nbsp;Lt. Adam McCarthy, HC-130 Hercules pilot, Lt. Hunter Atherton, HC-130 Hercules pilot, and Rodney Stanhope, of Yellow Ribbon America.</p>
<p>WHAT: Coast Guard crewmembers will be picking up 1,000 individual toys, from&nbsp;a Yellow&nbsp;Ribbon America location in Sacramento,&nbsp;and flying them to Fort Campbell, Ky., where the toys will be delivered to the 86th Combat Support Hospital Alpha Company.</p>
<p>WHEN: Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011 1:30 p.m.<br />The Coast Guard flight is scheduled to depart McClellen Air Field, Friday, Dec. 23, 2011. The HC-130 Hercules aircraft and aircrew will then depart Fort Campbell and head toward their mission destination in Central America.</p>
